Events in Berlin for the Weekend between January 15th and 17th

Jewish Events: Tu BiShvat

Tu Bishvat is the Jewish celebration of the "New Year of the Trees", or in other words, a holiday in which you can include many ecological and environmental messages for the kids. Last week, the Jewish Museum offered Tu Bishvat activities, now it's Chabad's turn. On Sunday, a trip to the Botanical Gardens, pre-registration required

Bambinim will also offer Tu Bishvat activities, on Sunday from 11:00, in the West Berlin club (register in advance, details)

Regardless of the upcoming holiday, there are regular events. On Sunday, Hashomer Hatzair will meet in their Ken, at 3:30 pm for the younger group (primary school) and for the older kids from 5:30 pm. Highly recommended!


The Green Week

The Green Week is an international exhibition dedicated to agriculture, food etc. It is a combination of a trade fair and a major public event - some of the parts of the exhibition are only open to professionals, but most of the fairgrounds are for any visitor, and in fact, with a lot of attractions for kids.

The focus of the Green Week on agriculture, has led to one of the major annual demonstrations for more sustainable agriculture and consumption: Wir haben es Satt !, Saturday, from 12:00, in Potsdamer Platz (en: Wikipedia

In Markthalle IX, one of the strongholds of the growing Slow Food movement in Berlin, the protest and action are combined. The weekend will be dedicated to bread baking, with demonstrations and events (also for kids) and on Sunday, a Breakfast Market combined with the Bread Festival.


Last but not least: the street food market at the Kulturbrauerei is due to return this Sunday.

Events in Berlin for the Weekend between January 8th and 10th

Jewish Events

  • Tu Bishvat will take place this year on January 25th, but the Jewish Museum has an event on the upcoming Sunday, with a workshop, getting to know trees/plants and some crafts. Sunday, 11 am to 1 pm , for children aged 6 and up, EUR 3 + admission.
