Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, June 29th - July 1st

The Bergmannstraßenfest

Kreuzberg's Bergmannstrasse turns into a huge Jazz festival for the weekend. On all three days, there will be multiple stages with music, stands and small children rides. Please be aware the festival is extremely crowded. 
Fri + Sat + Sun , Bergmannstrasse and the nearby streets in Kreuzberg (U-Mehringdamm or Gneisenaustr)

  • Family fest in Goerlitzer Park, on Friday


  • Summer Festival in the Insel in the Treptower Park, on Sunday 
  • An Open Air Gallery in Oberbaumbruecke, on Sunday 
  • Children picture book festival in Helmholzplatz on Sunday 
  • A summer festival in Gut Britz , with free admission, on Sunday 
  • The Summer Funfair in the Zentraler Festplatz will be here until July 22nd with free admission, fireworks on Saturday, stands and of course - many rides.

  • An open day in the Berlin Fire Brigade will certainly set some young hearts on fire (sorry, no lame pun goes by unnoticed). Sunday, Nikolaus-Groß-Weg 2, 13627 Berlin (in Siemststadt) , from 10:00 



  • The Rabazz festival, sponsored by Radio Teddy, on Sunday in the FEZ



  • Museums and Casltes
    • Every Saturday: workshops for children (from 2:30 onwards) at the Museum of Technology
    • Guided tour for families at the Natural History Museum, Sun from 11:00 


  • Sport (sort of...) : 
    • Waiter's race through KuDamm on Saturday , from Neue Kranzler Eck

    • And.. Swimming in the Spree, near Museum Island, on Sunday 



  • Music: 
    • Every Saturday , 12:00, the "Mighty Wurlitzer" in the Musical Instruments Museum
    • Sunday, 3:30 pm: "Brot oder Beim Essen spricht man nicht" a percussion concert for children older than 10, with children, Konzerthaus 


  • Food and Markets: 
    • The Dumpling Festival Berlin is running, as far as I know, for the first time, in the Alte Münze, on Saturday and Sunday. Admission: EUR 4 
lekka! 


    • Also on Sunday: the Weddingmarkt (in Leopoldplatz, Wedding of course); Flowmarkt in Prinzessinnengärten 
    • Flea markets and a street food market in the Kulturbrauerei

Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, June 22nd - 24th

Funfairs and Street Parties 


  • The Summer Funfair in the Zentraler Festplatz is opening on Friday and will be here until July 22nd with free admission, fireworks on Saturday, stands and of course - many rides. 


  • In the Fest der Linke, on Saturday, you will be able to listen to bands, have children activities, dance and munch, but also hear about the future of socialism. In Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, 10178 Berlin on Saturday from 11:00 









The ComicInvasion Festival

Berlin has its annual comics festival, which celebrates Berlin-made comics of all types. The centre of the festival is in the Museum for Communication and it features workshops, presentations and much more. 

Sat/Sun , in the Museum for Communication, Leipziger Straße 16, 10117 Berlin (Stadtmitte, U2/U6) 




Long Days of Summer

On Thursday, June 21st, we celebrate the longest day of the year, and in Berlin there's musical entertainment to celebrate the day, with Fete de la Musique, a music festival taking place all over the city, with free concerts. 

Other events this weekend are also dedicated to the longest day and to the shortening of days from now on. 

  • In the Britzer Garten, Friday will be reserved for the Sonnenwendfest, including activities in the afternoon and fireworks in the evening 



  • Urban Spree will also celebrate on Friday, with a Swedish  Midsommar party (from 4 pm)

    • And staying with theme of food, there is an event in the Kulturforum at the weekend, with food related workshops, around the exhibition Food Revolution 5.0

    • Every Saturday , 12:00, the "Mighty Wurlitzer" in the Musical Instruments Museum

  • Nature and Animals: Doggie Days in the Tierpark, which means bring fido with you, and all kinds of stands with dog-related activities and information


  • Food and Markets: 
    • The Green Market - with lots of yummy vegan / veggie food , Fri - Sat - Sun in the Alte Münze 



    • An Italian Food Party in Osthafen, Saturday/Sunday  

    • Flowmarkt in Maybacufer, on Sunday ; and also in YAAM from 12:00 on Sunday 
    • Flea markets and a street food market in the Kulturbrauerei (Sunday, this time with Mexican food)

Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, June 15th - 17th


Street Parties, Fairs etc.  



  • An African culture festival in Alexanderplatz including stands, music, food and more - until June 17th , daily and for free




  • A renaissance fair in Gutshof Britz in Neukoelln (U Parchimer Allee), on Fri through Sun 



  • The old city of Köpenick celebrates the summer, with a fair between Friday and Sunday, throughout the Old City and the Schlossinsel. On Saturday there is also going to be a parade/ pageant 
  • Another street party, on Saturday, in Friedrichshain, in Helsingforser Straße : the Suppe und Mucke is dedicated to soups and music, and the stars are a variety of social organisations from the neighbourhood, that present themselves. 


Long Night of Nature

Part of the "Long Night" tradition, the Long Night of the Nature lasts about 48 hours of nature-related fun. For one ticket you can participate in countless activities, including guided tours, workshops, tryouts and much more.

    • A nightly flea/designer market in the Spandau Citadel on Friday, from 6pm 
    • Every day: Asparagus Fesitval in Breitscheidplatz everyday, until June 17th 
    • Bite Club on Saturday, in the Arena in Treptow, with lots of fried chicken! 


      • Sunday: Flea markets (also Saturday) and a street food market in the Kulturbrauerei

    Funfair in Oranienburg, including a boating race, Friday through Sunday

    Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, June 8th - 10th

    Funfairs and Street Parties 


    Street Parties 


    • An African culture festival in Alexanderplatz including stands, music, food and more - until June 17th , daily and for free



    • The Havelfest in the Old Town of Spandau, on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, including fireworks on Saturday , 10pm 



    • The Kunstfest Pankow is dedicated to all kinds of arts and artisans, with a lot of entertainment, in Schlosspark Pankow. 



    • For fans of rides : 
      • Until Sunday, Steglitz is celebrating all week long the Steglitzer Woche festival, which includes rides (over 60 they claim), stands and entertainment
      • Landsberger Alllee near the Ikea, until July 2nd , every day 



    A Celebration of Science

    Aside from the funfairs, we all know what's really fun, and that's science. The "Long Night of Science", which is "The smartest night of the year", is an event in which over 70 scientific institutions offer workshops, hands-on experiments and other exciting events for families and also for adults (or young adults interested in a scientific career) 

    Saturday, May 9th, admission fees apply (a Family Ticket costs EUR 27 for the whole family)
    The website includes also division of activities for children over and under 10

    • Help to keep Berlin clean and tidy in the BerlinMachen Day on Friday and Saturday. There are dozens of groups all over the city, cleaning up together and having a bit of community activity. Check it out at https://www.berlinmachen.de/aktionstag/ 
      • Nature lovers might also want to check out the annual feast in Oekowerk, in the Grunewald , on Sunday 





    • Sport: Urban Fit Days is a fair dedicated to all things fitness - workshops, new gear, clothing, and even "fitness" food. Saturday-Sunday in the Alte Münze, admission fees depend on what you'd like to do there - just roam around or also, e.g. take part in the workshops , see in the website 



    • Museums and Casltes
      • Every Saturday: workshops for children (from 2:30 onwards) at the Museum of Technology
      • Guided tour for families at the Natural History Museum, Sun from 11:00 

    • Music / Performance :
      • Every Saturday , 12:00, the "Mighty Wurlitzer" in the Musical Instruments Museum
      • The FEZ dedicates the whole weekend to circus arts - you can watch, tryout and learn. Sat/Sun, Public Transport: take the S3 to Wuhlheide or trams 27, 63 or 67 to Freizeit- und Erholungszentrum. Admission fees apply 




      • children disco in Soda on Sunday, from 12:00 



    • Food and Markets:
      • A beer festival in BRLO (Gleisdreieck) on Friday / Saturday 
      • There is an African Food Festival, separably from the African Culture Festival in Alexanderplatz, in Osthafen, at the weekend 
      • Asparagus Fesitval in Breitscheidplatz everyday, until June 17th 
      • Flea markets and a street food market in the Kulturbrauerei on Sunday 
      • Also on Sunday, a Vegan/Vegetarian Food Festival in Birgit & Bier ; and also the Bites and Vibes festival in Eiswerk (Köpenicker Str. 40, 10179 Berlin ) 
      • There is also an Organic Picnic for Families in Domaene Dahlem on Sunday, the lucky ones even won a picnic basket. 
      • There is a flea market for the whole family at Yaam on Sunday 




    Jewish Traditions


    • Shabbat for children in Rykestr., every Friday, 4:30 pm 
    •  Hashomer Hatzair are meeting on Sunday. Information: dikla@hashomer.de  




    In Brandenburg...

    The Hussitenfest in Bernau is dedicated to the Hussites, but it is mostly an excuse for one of the largest Renaissance Fairs out there, including a whole parade in the city, reconstruction of sword fighting and other goodies. The entrance to the main compound is subject to admission fees.
