Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, September 28th - 30th

Berlin Light Festival(s)

The "light festivals season" is starting this weekend with "Berlin Leuchtet", an illiminations festival on Berlin's famous buildings. This one will be joined by the Festival of Lights until October 14th. The difference is a difference in organisers, nothing that should really trouble you as the audience. "Thanks" to the Erdogan visit, the first day went pretty quiet, but it is recommended, especially for fotography lovers

Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, September 21st - 23rd

    Kite Festival in Tempelhofer Feld

One of the best events of the autumn in Berlin (and just in time, given the weather change), is the huge kite festival in Tempelhofer Feld, on Saturday. Alongside really-really huge kite built by professional (or amateur) teams, you can also bring your own kite, homemade or bought.

Saturday, Tempelhofer Feld, 11am-8pm (free admission)

    Oktoberfest

Every year, the same thing: explaining newbies to German culture that Oktoberfest is in fact, not a German thing (but a Bavarian one) and especially in Prussian Berlin, don't expect to find much of this festival.

Want to see "real" Oktoberfest? Go to the Bavarian province - the smaller the town, the nicer is the experience; Munich is disgusting, be warned.

    • The Alexanderplatz Oktoberfest is taking place till October 7th
