Berlin Events for Small and Big , Feb 26 - 28

Berlin's Ice Age

So far, the winter has been pretty mild this year (knock wood?). However, it is actually this time of the year, when a new Ice Age threatens Berlin. Two different ice-skating shows will debut at the weekend: Disney on Ice (Thursday, 25th till Sunday, 28th, at the Velodrom) and "Holiday on Ice" (also beginning on Thu, Feb 25th but continuing until March 13th at the Tempodrom). Tickets are not exactly cheap, but fans will be delighted (and you don't really need German)

If you prefer a more active fun on ice , there are the ice skating rinks, all over Berlin, including shoe-rental, for those who don't own any.  For  ice skating rinks in Berlin

  • There is Hashomer Hatzair activity on Sunday (see here)
  • Also on Sunday: workshop on "Magical Tales" in the Martin Gropius Bau (at 1 pm, recommended for children from 1st grade up, in German).

  • On Sunday, the BVG is going to use historical trains for some of the U6 schedule, to celebrate the line's 50th anniversary , timetable (pdf)


  • Cheese festival at the Arminiusmarkthalle in Moabit on Saturday/Sunday, and nd of course, the street food market at the Kulturbrauerei, Sunday 11:00- 6pm

Meanwhile in Brandenburg: Rise of the Knights, Bernau

Rise of the Knights is a "knighting"-competition, which takes place in Bernau on February 27th. In the event, knighting-teams will fight each other (in a hall).

Events in Berlin, February 19 - 21, 2016

A Very Musical Weekend

There are always children concerts in one venue or another in Berlin, but this weekend is somehow abundant with them.

It begins with a baby concert, at the Deutsche Oper. Their "Baby Concert" series is suitable to babies, toddlers and their parents and this is the last concert for a while. (information)

On Saturday, there are several concerts:

  • The Klingendes Museum offers a workshop, where kids can have hand-on experience with different instruments, for kids aged 6 and up  (information
  • A special Fasching concert at the Philharmonie, with clowns, Saturday afternoon, for kids aged 5 and up  (details and tickets

And then, on Sunday, a couple more children concerts:


  • at 12:00, at the Haus-der-Rundfunk, a concert titled "Tierische Tag" (details
  • And at 3pm and 4:15 pm, Carnival of the Animals (in German) at the Konzerthaus
