Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, July 28th - 30th


Funfairs

  • More Funfairs and Street Parties: 

      • The German American Fest features rides, stands and entertainment, all with an American flavour. This veteran festival has a new venue: in the Alte Gaswerk in Mariendorf, with the closest stations being Atillastr or Alt Mariendorf. Every day, until August 13th 

    He who thinks of summer, gets summer (I fool myself sometimes) 
      • Museums and Casltes

        • Every Saturday: workshops for children (from 2:30 onwards) at the Museum of Technology; Every Sunday, 11:00 and 3:00 - guided tour (in German) in the museum



      • Sports
        • The Berlin Inline Games feature tricks, moves and dances with Inline Skates. Throughout the weekend in Werner-Seelenbinder-Sportpark Oderstr. 182 12051 Berlin
        • And also "world championship" (in the words of the organisers) in Beach Dodgeball in Beach Mitte , on Saturday 




      • Nature : An evening tour through the Zoologischer Garten, Friday, 7 pm 

      • Markets and Food: 
        • Market in the communal garden of Himmelbeet, with products from the garden and from the Kiez
        • Flowmarkt on Sunday, in the Prinzessinengarten
        •  Street food market at the Kulturbrauerei , Sunday

      Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, July 21st - 23rd

      Pride Weekend

      Last week was just the beginning of the Berlin Pride Week. Now, the CSD Parade, on Saturday. 

      Starting in the KuDamm and all the way to the Victory Column 





      More Funfairs and Street Parties: 


        • The German American Fest opens at this weekend. It features rides, stands and entertainment, all with an American flavour. This veteran festival has a new venue: in the Alte Gaswerk in Mariendorf, with the closest stations being Atillastr or Alt Mariendorf. Every day, until August 13th 




        Furthermore

        • The Botanical Gartens will celebrate on Friday with the Botanical Night, which includes activities for children and adults, music and light installations.

        • The HIghland Games in IGA will entertain you with faux-Scots doing silly things in the midday sun. Admission fees apply


        • Another colourful commercial event on Sunday is the "Holi Festival of Colours" in the Olympic Riding Statium . Here, too, admission fees apply

        Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, July 14th - 16th

        Street Parties, Festivals and Much more

        There are many street parties and festivals to choose from at the weekend. The two main ones are the "Lesbian-Gay City Festival" in and around Nollendorfplatz and the German French Festival, in and around Brandenburg Gate.

        But that is not all! oh, no. that is not all! 

        There is also the last weekend of the "German-French Funfair", also calling itself "Volksfest Sommer", in the Zentraler Festplatz. The fair features 60 different attractions including many more rides than your average Berlin fest, more like a small amusement park. The funfair is open daily, from 3 pm, for free (the rides cost money, of course). Wednesday is half-priced day and there are fireworks on Saturday. Until July 16th. Transport: Bus X21 or M21 from the U7 in  Jacob-Kaiser-Platz

          • More Funfairs and Street Parties: 
            • The Blumenfest (Flower Festival) in Weißensee features rides, stands, and of course - the "Flower King/Queen". Fri/Sat/Sun, on Berliner Allee in the section between Antonplatz and Indira Gandhi Straße (M4 / M13 or Tram 12) , and around the lake. 
            • Until July 20th: Berlin Lacht! , street theatre festival in Washingtonplatz (Hauptbahnhof)

            • Saturday: 750 year anniversary to Kladow, with a fest in Imchenplatz
            • Saturday: from 2 pm at Zelterstraße in PBerg ; and also, not far from there, in Stargarder Straße
            • And also on Saturday: a street party in Choriner Str in Mitte
            • Sat/Sun: Hafenfest , a party in the historical harbour of Berlin/Mitte (near Fischerinsel)

          • Open day in the Berlin Fire Brigade! A wonderful Sunday experience for little fans (and big ones as well) 

          • Museums and Casltes
            • Open Days on Sat/Sun including many activities for children at the KPM Museum in Tiergarten. Free admission to the museum.

            • Every Saturday: workshops for children (from 2:30 onwards) at the Museum of Technology; Every Sunday, 11:00 and 3:00 - guided tour (in German) in the museum
            • Guided tour for families in German in the Kafka Exhibition, Martin Gropius Bau, Sunday 1 pm 
            • "Stoffe und Muster", a fashion workshop for kids aged 6 to 12, Sunday, from 2 pm, at the Kunstgewerbemuseum 






            • Markets and Food: 
                Bite Club
              • Arts, crafts, upcycling and designer products, Saturday in Alfred-Scholz-Platz 
              • An Italian breakfast market in Markthalle IX, Sunday 
              • Cherry festival at Spaeth , Sat+Sun 
              • And perhaps one of the coolest possible event: an Israeli-Syrian Hummus party in Refugio, with a DJ, flea market and yes, also hummus. 
              • Also in Kreuzberg on Sunday: The Flowmarkt in the Prinzessinnengarten

            Funfairs and Street Parties

            • Berlin Lacht, with acrobats and clowns, Sat/Sun in Dorothea-Schlegel-Platz near Friedrichstr. 

            Books and more Books

            • On Saturday, the Amerika Gedekbibliothek will celebrate 60 years of its children book department, with many activities

              • Guided tour for families in German in the Kafka Exhibition, Martin Gropius Bau, Sunday 1 pm 


              • The FU Campus Run, including a children course, Sunday from 9 am 

            Hebrew / Jewish Heritage 


            • Hashomer Hatzair will meet on Sunday afternoon, a trilingual Peula for kids aged 7 and up (details with dikla@hashomer.de )
