Events for Families in Berlin, November 13th - 15th

Volkstrauerstag - German Memorial Day

Volkstrauerstag is a national memorial day, originally meant to commemorate the fallen in the First World War. The law places "Tanzverbot" on this day, literally a prohibition of parties, but basically no flea markets, fairs and similar activities.

Still - lots to do in the city, also at this weekend.

For Example...

  • The Winter World in Potsdamer Platz, until January 3rd. Closed on this Sunday (Volkstrauertag) but open all week long otherwise, including this Saturday.

  • Haus am Waldsee with a Family Day, Sat 2 - 5 pm
  • Also the Musical Instruments Museum (Ben-Gurion-Straße, 10785 Berlin) has a "Family Day", with guitar experiments for children and a concert (S/U Potsdamer Platz, Bus 200 at Philharmonie). Sunday, most of the day.
  •  The Frei Zeit Haus in Weissensee will run its Family Sunday, with crafts, baking and African legends (in German) . details

  • "Winterdorf" (Winter Village) at the Arena in Treptow, including a skating rink, Sa/Su from noonish.
  • And the Markthalle IX does its Breakfast Market this Sunday...

Meanwhile in Brandenburg...

The Klaistow Farm has a straw labyrinth. Daily until December 20th.

Spargelhof KlaistowGlindower Straße 28 14547 Beelitz GT Klaistow, Take Regional RE7 to Beelitz Heilstätten and then bus 643 to Klaistow, Spargelhof. If you've missed to Regional (or took the S7 because of the works on the line right now), you can also take bus 643 from the Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.
