Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, June 8th - 10th

Funfairs and Street Parties 


Street Parties 


  • An African culture festival in Alexanderplatz including stands, music, food and more - until June 17th , daily and for free



  • The Havelfest in the Old Town of Spandau, on Friday/Saturday/Sunday, including fireworks on Saturday , 10pm 



  • The Kunstfest Pankow is dedicated to all kinds of arts and artisans, with a lot of entertainment, in Schlosspark Pankow. 



  • For fans of rides : 
    • Until Sunday, Steglitz is celebrating all week long the Steglitzer Woche festival, which includes rides (over 60 they claim), stands and entertainment
    • Landsberger Alllee near the Ikea, until July 2nd , every day 



A Celebration of Science

Aside from the funfairs, we all know what's really fun, and that's science. The "Long Night of Science", which is "The smartest night of the year", is an event in which over 70 scientific institutions offer workshops, hands-on experiments and other exciting events for families and also for adults (or young adults interested in a scientific career) 

Saturday, May 9th, admission fees apply (a Family Ticket costs EUR 27 for the whole family)
The website includes also division of activities for children over and under 10 







Furthermore



  • Help to keep Berlin clean and tidy in the BerlinMachen Day on Friday and Saturday. There are dozens of groups all over the city, cleaning up together and having a bit of community activity. Check it out at https://www.berlinmachen.de/aktionstag/ 
    • Nature lovers might also want to check out the annual feast in Oekowerk, in the Grunewald , on Sunday 





  • Sport: Urban Fit Days is a fair dedicated to all things fitness - workshops, new gear, clothing, and even "fitness" food. Saturday-Sunday in the Alte Münze, admission fees depend on what you'd like to do there - just roam around or also, e.g. take part in the workshops , see in the website 



  • Museums and Casltes
    • Every Saturday: workshops for children (from 2:30 onwards) at the Museum of Technology
    • Guided tour for families at the Natural History Museum, Sun from 11:00 

  • Music / Performance :
    • Every Saturday , 12:00, the "Mighty Wurlitzer" in the Musical Instruments Museum
    • The FEZ dedicates the whole weekend to circus arts - you can watch, tryout and learn. Sat/Sun, Public Transport: take the S3 to Wuhlheide or trams 27, 63 or 67 to Freizeit- und Erholungszentrum. Admission fees apply 




    • children disco in Soda on Sunday, from 12:00 



  • Food and Markets:
    • A beer festival in BRLO (Gleisdreieck) on Friday / Saturday 
    • There is an African Food Festival, separably from the African Culture Festival in Alexanderplatz, in Osthafen, at the weekend 
    • Asparagus Fesitval in Breitscheidplatz everyday, until June 17th 
    • Flea markets and a street food market in the Kulturbrauerei on Sunday 
    • Also on Sunday, a Vegan/Vegetarian Food Festival in Birgit & Bier ; and also the Bites and Vibes festival in Eiswerk (Köpenicker Str. 40, 10179 Berlin ) 
    • There is also an Organic Picnic for Families in Domaene Dahlem on Sunday, the lucky ones even won a picnic basket. 
    • There is a flea market for the whole family at Yaam on Sunday 




Jewish Traditions


  • Shabbat for children in Rykestr., every Friday, 4:30 pm 
  •  Hashomer Hatzair are meeting on Sunday. Information: dikla@hashomer.de  




In Brandenburg...

The Hussitenfest in Bernau is dedicated to the Hussites, but it is mostly an excuse for one of the largest Renaissance Fairs out there, including a whole parade in the city, reconstruction of sword fighting and other goodies. The entrance to the main compound is subject to admission fees.
