The Long Day of Urban Nature
The "Long Day" is an event in which 150 different organisations offer over 500 nature-related activities (guided tours, visits to facilities and urban farms, etc.) all over the city. It starts at 3 pm on Saturday and there are non-stop activities until Sunday, 5 pm . One ticket covers all activities

Other nature events, at this weekend:
- Evening tour in the Grunewald forest, with the Waldmuseum (Forest Museum), Friday 9 p.m

- Funfairs and Street Parties:
- African Cultural Festival in Alexanderplatz (until Sunday, June 18th), including a lot of music, other aspects of African culture, stands with African products and food
- The "German-French Funfair", also calling itself "Volksfest Sommer" starts on Friday, in the Zentraler Festplatz. The fair features 60 different attractions including many more rides than your average Berlin fest, more like a small amusement park. The funfair is open daily, from 3 pm, for free (the rides cost money, of course). Wednesday is half-priced day and there are fireworks on Saturday. Until July 16th. - Friday afternoon: block party at Marienburger Str 16
- Fri/Sat/Sun: A street party in the Koepenick Old Town (programme)
- Saturday: Fest der Linke, organised by the Linke Party in Rosa Luxemburg Platz, including children activities
- Craftsmen festival in the Museumsdorf Dueppel , Sat/Sun
- Adventure weekend in the FEZ, Sat/Sun ; meanwhile, the Parkeisenbahn, the small train going through the park, is inviting its fans to the Dampfspektakel 2017, which will obviously feature many steamy trains

- The Pankow Kunstfest features artisans, artists and also craftsmen, with a great mixture of culture and fun. In the Schlosspark.
- There is a children fest in the Kulturbrauerei on Sunday, with stands, rides and events in different Kulturbrauerei institutions (see also below)
- Museums and Castles
- Discover the Peacock Island with the Elf Tana, Saturday 3 pm
- A guided tour with the "Court Dragon", for kids aged 5 and up, in the Marmor Palace, Sunday 2:30 pm
- Music
- Saturday, from 2 pm: choir festival in Crellestr in Schoeneberg, (details: PDF)
- Music instruments workshop for children aged 6 and up, Sat., 3 pm at the Klingendes Museum
- Sleeping Beauty, ballet, in Deutsche Oper, Sunday 4 pm
- Sports
- The Lichtenauer Water Funrun takes place on Saturday morning and features also a children course, with 800m
- Sun: The Velothon - Berlin's bike marathon. Mostly to watch (details)
- Markets and Food:
- Friday from 8 pm: a Ramadan Food Festival in the YAAM, with fast-breaking food traditions and music from around the world
- The Breakfast Market in Markthalle IX will take place on Sunday, with Japan as the guest of honour - this will also include this time different workshops on Japanese food.
- The Flowmarkt in the Prizenssinengarten in Kreuzberg (U8 Moritzplatz) on Sunday
Hebrew / Israeli / Jewish Heritage
- I have already mentioned the children fest at the Kulturbrauerei, but one event deserves to be mentioned separately: the Museum of GDR Everyday Culture will present Shlomo and the Bubales, with their show, Die Koscher Maschine, on Sunday, 2:30 and 4:40 pm

Later in the week...
June 21st is the official beginning of summer (painful subject this year in Berlin), and also the longest day of the year. It is, in Berlin, the Fete de la Mousique, a big musical event all over the city, with many concerts and shows (map / programme)
