Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, August 3rd - 5th

Funfairs and Street Parties

  • Obviously, the main festival of the weekend is the Beer Festival Berlin, which streches on a huge area - between the Strausberger Platz and Frankfurter Tor stations in Friedrichshain on Fri / Sat / Sun. The festival is for free, with musical and food entertainment, but be aware - very crowded.

  • There is a Children Bat Festival in the Spandau Citadel on Saturday; another good reason to go there is the Bavarian Festival in the Old City of Spandau

  • The support group festival on Saturday in the Tempelhofer Feld is dedicated to groups and organisations offering ideas for support for people challenged by difficulties. It will include a stage-programme with entertainment, a fun-run, and much more (details)
  • The FEZ is turning into "Circus on the Beach" for the rest of this summer's weekends: with circus activities, beach activities and lots of fun (admission fees apply)

  • Alexanderplatz hosts, every day, the street theatre festival Berlin Lacht! - Acrobatics, clowns and more - for free , daily until August 12th
  • Another festival that will take place daily until August 19th is the German-American-Funfair (Deutsch-Amerikanisches Volksfest). The location is a bit off the city centre, to say the least: in Marienpark, which is about 15 minutes walk from either S Attilastr or U Alt Mariendorf. There is an admission fee, but it is in fact converted into chips for rides.
