Weekend Events for the Whole Family in Berlin, August 24th - 26th

The Long Night of the Museums...

Museums are at the focus this weekend. Saturday evening will host the annual Long Night of the Museum, an event in which many of the museums in the city open in the evening and until late, with many events, shows, guided tours and activities. 

There are also many events for kids, you have to search through the programme to find out



More events in museums


    • Street food market in the Kulturforum on Friday and Saturday 
    • Flea market in the Zitadelle Spandau on Saturday night 
    • Every Saturday: workshops for children (from 2:30 onwards) at the Museum of Technology
    • Guided tour for families at the Natural History Museum, Sun from 11:00 
    • Guided tour for children (DE) about the Berlin Wall, in the Wall Memorial on Sunday


Funfairs and Street Parties 


  • The best street party of the week is the Nikolai Festspiele in Nikolai Quarter on Sat / Sun . It features many people in historical (in fact pseudo historical: steampunk)  costumes, stands, music and much hilarity.

  • The Fest der Liebe is a smaller version of the Love Parade, for the techno fan in you. Starting on Saturday from Treptower Park, at 1 pm and going through Kreuzebrg, Friedrichshain and Lichtenberg
  • A street party in Katzengraben in Köpenick, on Saturday 
  • Also on Saturday, in Rüdesheimer Platz 
  • A street fair in the Kladow harbour, on Sunday 
  • Summer in the City - a small fair in Breitscheidplatz, every day until September 9th 

Summer in the City (DNA)
  • Berlin Lacht continues, in Hauptbahnhof, until September 15th, daily 
  • Also daily till September 9th: the Schollenfest, a small and cute traditional funfair in Waidmannslust, a neighbourhood in Tegel , including a pageant on Sunday

  • Open door in the Federal Government on Saturday and Sunday, including many activities: programme


  • Sport: 
    • The Inklusionslauf is dedicated to inclusion of all members of society , a fun-run in Tempelhofer Feld for really everybody - no matter how able-bodied they are. Saturday, from 10:00 






  • Music: 
    • Every Saturday , 12:00, the "Mighty Wurlitzer" in the Musical Instruments Museum

  • Food and Markets: 
    • Friday through Sunday is the annual Vegan Food Festival in Alexanderplatz, which does a pretty awesome job in trying to convince us to live without animal-sourced products 

    • Italian Festival in Urban Spree on Saturday
    • Vinyl records  market in the Yaam on Sunday
    • Designer market in the Prinzessinnengaerten on Sunday 
    • Taste of Latin America - StreetFood Festival in Birgit & Bier on Sunday 
    • And Sunday afternoon will also see the great Hummus Festival in Sage Beach 
    • Flea markets and a street food market in the Kulturbrauerei
