Getting Back a Year Later ...

 Happy New Year!

The main event of the week for me is of course Rosh Hashanah, which starts this year on Monday evening (September 6), and continues into Tuesday and Wednesday (September 7-8).

Events for Rosh Hashanah:

  • For adults: Online workshop on Rosh Hashanah traditions: Sunday, 7:30 p.m. ( details )
  • Zusammen's Rosh Hashanah meal, on Monday evening, but there are no more seats available (perhaps it is possible to find out in an emergency); In contrast, the Rosh Hashanah meal of the "Morashah" organization is still open for registrations
  • For adults: Rosh Hashanah meal at BASE on Monday evening, and if you prefer your apple in date molasses rather than honey? Vegan holiday meal at BASE in Kreuzberg Tuesday, September 7, at 8 p.m.

  • Tashlich experiences with Chabad Berlin? On Tuesday afternoon in the Mitte area

Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights takes place during this week (and also the one after that - until next Sunday). So what to see at the festival? Light shows around the city, for free, after dark. A full map of the festival and information on the events can be found here.

Free museums on Sunday

It's the First Sunday of the Month again, which means free admission to many museums, in the  Museumsonntag where many museums are free and also have a selection of cool events. As usual, it is theoretically necessary to register in advance. The solutions for those who do not:

  • - To be stubborn, places are always kept for spontaneous visitors as well. Some museums don't register in advance at all, but only control the number of visitors in the closed space at a given moment.
  • - Go to more "remote" museums

Museum Sunday , all the details - in dozens of museums around the city (but not all of Berlin's museums ...)

  • Children who are crazy about ambulances, fire brigades and the police (and their parents) should know that on Sunday the Technology Museum announced a "tribute day to the rescue forces" and there will be lots of big and colorful trucks to admire ( details )
  • In addition to the usual bustle of museums on Sunday, the Communication Museum will also hold the Comics Festival on Saturday and Sunday - with a lot of independent work, fanzines etc.

  • In addition to the open-air museum events, the Futurium celebrates a two-year anniversary on Sunday with futuristic events (or not)

A selection of other outdoor events

The fact that there is a festival of lights and a Sunday of museums does not rule out masses of other interesting events:

  • Friedrichshain: The summer festival of arts in front of the Berlin Computer Games Museum in the district, including virtual activities, of course. Saturday ( details )

This is what the organizers at "Birgit" think represents Jewish food. Okay

    • Saturday only: Suarezstr

  • Wedding:
    • A weekend (Saturday / Sunday) of open artists' workshops with a lot of interesting things, at the Gerichtshöfen Wedding (address: Gerichtstr. 12-13 13347 Berlin, not far from Humboldtain, but if the silly strike continues, then also to the wedding station).
    • Arts Market at Leopoldplatz, on Sunday
  • Lichtenberg: On Saturday, a beach party on the shores of the Orankesee with performances, music, food and more.
